Executive Summary IM Study

by | Apr 25, 2023 | Cases

Senior Management Worldwide partner QMT from Spain, together with two other organizations, initiated a global study on the development of Interim Management. Each SMW partner completed the questionnaire, providing a global view of developments in the global Interim Management market.
What are developments in this market? What role has Covid played so far? And what opportunities are there in the near future?

The study was done in 2023 trough “EIM Group“ as well as the business networks “Globalise – The Global Interim Management Group” and “Senior Management Worldwide (SMW)“. 45 companies specializing in Interim Management, located in 50 countries throughout Europe, America, Asia and Oceania, have contributed their experience and knowledge of the markets in which they operate.

Our SWM Spain partner, Dirk Kremer : “We see that Interim Management gets more and more a strategic role in companies. Management and Supervisory Boards are turning more often directly to specialized agencies. And that makes sense, because they have a pool of IMs and the knowledge to select the most suitable candidate from it. Candidates who have the experience in managing the situation as the client is going through.”

Both Interim Management companies and professionals, as well as service contractors, will find valuable information on the advantages of the service, common uses, market trends, etc.

SMW President, Grégoire Cabri-Wiltzer: “The international market of Interim Management represents a fabulous opportunity of growth for the members of SMW which is present in 27 countries, we notice the same dynamics in almost all the markets: rapid growth of the local and international demand, concentration on few significative, specialized local players with global reach, constant growth of professionalism of the interim managers. All these elements generate higher requirements and expectations of our clients. Something that only international networks of Interim Managers can deliver. These points are clearly in favor of the initiative taken by the I International Study on Interim Management”

The study reveals Acceptance and consolidation of Interim Management, expectations levels of complementary services, the advantages of outsourcing specialized companies instead of interim managers directly and impact of the pandemic on IM business.

Also, the study identifies the main factors influencing Interim Management outsourcing and what are the obstacles to outsourcing Interim Management services.
